Welcome to our dedicated Coronavirus (COVID-19) website.

What is Income Protection?

Your Income Protection contract with Cirencester Friendly is insurance against losing earnings due to disability or incapacity for longer than the set time in your contract, called the deferred period. It only pays out to people who can't work because of the severity of the symptoms from illness or accidental injury, causing “incapacity”.

When you make a claim, you will need to prove to us that it is an illness or injury that is preventing you from being fit and able to work, and not any other reason. Income Protection doesn't cover you for other reasons stopping you working, like redundancy or having to self-isolate to protect others or even yourself.

As a mutual we are here for our Members, especially during such unprecedented times such as this.  We will continue to monitor and review the situation as it evolves, taking into account advice from Public Health England and our Chief Medical Officer.

Business Continuity

We are constantly reviewing the Government advice and we have a Business Continuity Plan in place. This includes implementing working from home to allow us to ensure both Members and Advisers continue to receive the best possible service during these difficult times.

Can we pay claims?

The Society has a strong and resilient balance sheet that has been built up through prudent financial management over a number of years. This means the Society has sufficient reserves to be able to weather the current Coronavirus crisis and has a range of other measures at its disposal to support reserves, should it need to call upon them. We have tested for stresses in the markets such as what we are witnessing and these tests demonstrate our ability to withstand such shocks.

Our priority remains our Members and ensuring that we are there when they need us most, to be able to pay claims when required and we remain confident in the Society’s ability to do this. Our other key priority is the safety and security of our staff, for which we have implemented protective measures across the Society’s activities in line with the latest Government advice.
