Day One Cover remains temporarily unavailable for both Income Assured Enhanced and My Earnings Protected, alongside Day One Accident Protection for Income Assured Enhanced. These temporary measures also apply to any amendments to existing contracts.

We have removed our COVID-19 exclusion for contracts with a 4 or 8 week deferred periods.

All new applications and amendments submitted with a 1 week deferred period will have an exclusion for Coronavirus/Covid-19, other viral and respiratory tract infections, (to include self-quarantine, of all types, and/or caring for others with these conditions) and associated conditions including post-viral fatigue and post-viral depression. 

This exclusion will apply to only the first four weeks of incapacity due to COVID-19/ Coronavirus and respiratory tract infections. If the incapacity extends beyond 4 weeks then a claim for COVID-19/ Coronavirus and respiratory tract infections will be considered.

Can my client apply for an Income Protection contract?

Yes, the deferred periods available are 1, 4, 8, 13, 26 or 52 weeks.

All 1 week deferred period contracts will have the following exclusion applied:  ‘Coronavirus/Covid-19, other viral and respiratory tract infections, (to include self-quarantine, of all types, and/or caring for others with these conditions) and associated conditions including post-viral fatigue and post-viral depression’

Can my client reduce their deferred period on their application which is not yet on risk?

Yes - subject to the minimum deferred period currently available being 1 week deferred.

What happens if my client develops Coronavirus symptoms or tests positive for Coronavirus before an application is submitted?

If your client develops symptoms of coronavirus or tests positive for Coronavirus before an application is submitted, this must be disclosed. Assuming your client was not hospitalised due to COVID-19, the application will be postponed until the applicant has been back at work on full normal working duties for 1 month. If the applicant is able to work remotely and doesn’t take any time off work, then they will be postponed for 1 month from the date of their positive test. Where hospitalisation was required, please contact the Underwriting Team for individual consideration.

What happens if my client develops Coronavirus symptoms or tests positive for Coronavirus while the application is being processed?

If an applicant develops symptoms of coronavirus or tests positive for Coronavirus before the terms have been offered or accepted, this must be disclosed. The application will be postponed until the applicant has been back at work on full normal working duties for 1 month. If the applicant is able to work remotely and doesn’t take any time off work, then they will be postponed for 1 month from the date of their positive test.
